Submitted by Jeree on June 9, 2005 - 1:01pm
Lets check out this CNN poll.....what is the Republican Party if it is not White Christians? Looks like it to me.....How funny is this? We can all be offended by being called what we are???? Since when did they decide that their Christian group should not be called.....Christians.. Christian Coalition Condemns Howard Dean for Racist Remarks Disparaging 'White Christians' To: National Desk Contact: Michele Combs of the Christian Coalition, 202-549-6257, 202-479-6900 WASHINGTON, June 9 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Christian Coalition of America condemns the Chairman of the Democrat Party, Howard Dean, for injecting race into the debate on national party membership with his inflammatory remarks that the Republican Party is "pretty much a white Christian party". Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Republican Party, Ken Mehlman, who incidentally is Jewish, has been spending much of the time since he was elected chairman in reaching out to bring more minorities into the Republican Party. Senator Joe Lieberman, (D-CT), said about Mr. Dean's remarks, "I thought the comment that he made about the Republican Party being a white, Christian party was way over the top. It was divisive and wrong, and I hope he apologizes for it." Roberta Combs, President of the Christian Coalition of America said, "Howard Dean is bringing unnecessary divisiveness into American politics by injecting race and religious prejudice with his inflammatory remarks. Christian Coalition agrees with Senators in Mr. Dean's own party in calling on him to apologize for his divisive remarks. Howard Dean, when he was elected chairman, promised to reach out to all the states that voted for President Bush in last year's election. Disparaging Christians is not the smartest way to do this." The Christian Coalition of America is America's largest Christian grassroots organization with more than 2 million supporters. The organizations website may be referenced at: http://www.cc.org |
