THE CITY’S EFFORT AROUND PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC by Eric Sten
Submitted by David e. Delk on October 19, 2005 - 10:32pm
Eric Sten explains how Portland could have bought PGE from Enron and how the price and the projected savings were calulated. Please take time to call or write Mr. Sten and the other city commissioner with this simple statement: Condemn PGE NOW! Reasonably-priced electricity is a critical element of economic health for any region. With the dramatic changes in the energy industry, utilities will be sold and re-sold to make quick profits from a captive group of customers. Oregon needs the owners and managers of the utility focused on what is best for Oregon . In other words, from the very top the utility should focus on how we can deliver energy at the lowest possible price to ensure community health rather than exploiting tax loopholes and funnel profits to far-away investors. |
