The Latest From Pete Sorenson, Democratic Candidate For Governor

Dear Friends,

It's been a wild few days so I thought I'd drop you all an email on how the campaign's been going and what you can do to help.

We had a great trip to Corvallis and I met lots of people there from the peace community. We got our announcement in the Corvallis Gazette Times and so people from the larger community came, too. The Eugene Register Guard sent a reporter and photographer so my picture was on the front page of the Register Guard a few days later.

News from Zogby: yes, it's true that I was shown in a Zogby International poll (sampled from their headquarters in New York) to be beating all of the major republicans in the Governor's race. That's pretty good news for people who say, "Yeah, you're the best guy running, but can you beat the Republican nominee?" Well, this is pretty good news: I'm beating all of them in the range of 15 points. Oregon is a blue state!

We've had other trips to Portland at Portland State University, Roseburg with the Laborer's Union, Eugene for a Health Care Forum, Portland for a Health Care Forum, and an all comers forum at Jeff's Place in Newport. Wayne Miller from Springfield drives me most of the time, but we can also use other drivers.

By the way, there is some time for a personal life, too. I celebrated my mother's 84th birthday with family on Sunday, November 13, and I'm going to watch my son Erik play for the national junior college soccer championship this weekend.

I haven't heard much from people in Medford, Gresham, Astoria, Hillsboro and Salem, so I need to get to those places, too. If you know people in those areas, please email us. If you're in or near Portland, we can never really work hard enough in and around the Rose City.

People often ask what our strategy is to beat Governor Kulongoski on May 16, 2006. I tell them it's fairly simple: Oregon democrats want a better governor, we have a web based data base and we're going to gather 180,000 names and email addresses and we're going to have a major lawnsign campaign.

So, what can you do to help? Here are a few things:

1) write your local newspaper and the Oregonian and tell them why you're supporting me.

2) use your 2005 Oregon political income tax credit and send in $50 to $100 to our committee:
