Oregon Report — Thursday, November 10, 2005

David Reinhard sinks ever lower

As always, there is no lack of topics for your LTEs — a general theme that comes to mind is the weakening, crumbling right-wing abuse of power and the resurgence of common-sense, fiscally responsible, good government with Democrats fighting for ordinary people.

But for today I’ll just call our attention to David “Blowhard” Reinhard’s especially egregious Oregonian column, “A counterattack in the war over the war”
Rather than get angry and express outrage at his blatant lies and spin...
“Did the White House "manipulate" prewar intel? If so -- and that's by no means established -- it had company. The Clinton team was making the same claims as Bush's. So were other foreign governments. So were congressional Democrats prior to the Iraq war”...
I suggest letters that either mock his contortions or express pity at how desperate the righties have become.

The right-wing noise machine, from the White House down to local toadies like Reinhard, are all bleating the same tune, but it ain’t working. The American people are not going to be fooled again.

If you want to dismantle one or two of his lies and distortions, go for it. For example—sure, the competent professionals on the Clinton team warned about Saddam’s possible WMD’s but that was before the dismantling of his WMD program and before the inspectors went in and confirmed he had no capabilities. Also, unlike the Bush zealots, the Clinton team never claimed falsely that Saddam had the capability to attack the US, and they never led us into a war on false pretenses.
