Feb 9: Multco Dems to consider Bush impeachment
Submitted by lastmarx on February 3, 2006 - 1:44am
A former state senator will present a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney to the Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee February 9. The resolution passed the Committee's agenda subcomittee last month. It charges that Bush and Cheney's (1) unprovoked and misrepresented invasion of Iraq violated the UN charter, (2) their actions contrary to acts of Congress volated their oaths of office and (3) their unlawful detention and torture of prisoners violated the US Constitution, acts of Congress and the Geneva Conventions. These actions, the Central Committee is asked to declare, reach the level of High Crimes and Misdeameanors while in office sufficient to constitute articles of impeachment before the House of Representatives. The resolution will be presented by former Democratic State Senator Vern Cook, an attorney in Gresham. The Central Committee will met at 7PM, Thursday, February 9 at the Hollywood Senior Center, 1820 NE 40th Avenue (off Sandy Blvd). More info at (503) 665-8143 |

Add wiretapping to the proposal
Unless you update the list day by day, you might short change the full littany Bush high crime and misdemeanors. However, I think the Mult Dems should at the very least add this to the list:
(4) flagrant and unrepentant violation of the constitutional rule against unwarranted searches and siezures.
...or something to that effect.
Your voices have been heard!
Hello Oregon! Thank you for considering this issue. I wanted to share with you my appreciation, and let you know how your important work fits in with what is going on in other states. Your state has taken the important step to join others who have decided to assert the rule of law and hold this President accountable.
And that’s only the beginning. Right now there is a surprise unfolding for the President. These are state level impeachment proclamations. These will force the House to vote up or down on the issue of impeachment. This method was successfully tested in 1903 against a sitting Federal Judge. [ Summary: Click for details on how this works, and the RNC cannot stop this.]
One thing to remember about these state-level impeachment efforts: It only takes one state, and the House can't hide this in committee. Rather, this will force the House members to publicly vote whether they are for or against the rule of law. Then, the voters will have nine months to decide whether they trust the Congress, or find new leaders.
There is progress being made. There is nothing the RNC can do to stop this local level debate. Please encourage your friends to discuss this with your state officials, and others in the blogosphere.

Remember, you're not alone, and don't lose hope! The President is desperate and in a no-win situation. The key will be when the States force the House to vote up or down. Good luck and let your friends know -- Karl Rove's 2006 plan is trashed! LOL ;-)
Thank you for your support and speaking out on this issue. I’ll see you at the victory party. They have wished for this.
Best wishes! We’re making progress.
