Oregon for Obama update

March 18, 2008

Editor’s note: We’ve received the official info on Friday’s events in Portland and Eugene. Full details are available below. We’ll add information on other Oregon events as they become available.

I just got word – it’s official, there is now an Obama campaign office here in Oregon: 3016 SE Division, Portland (a former Wild Oats location).

The campaign is in need of supplies and volunteers:

- Immediate volunteer help

- Desks

- Chairs

- Trash cans

- Clip boards

- Comfortable lawn chairs

- Folding chairs

- Duct tape

- Other assorted items that you think might be helpful getting an office up and running

From the campaign:

If you can volunteer for a three hour shift tomorrow, Wednesday, or any day this week, it would be greatly appreciated. The sooner the office is set up, the sooner we can start canvassing, phone banking and direct voter contact that will win the campaign!

I’m a bit hesitant to post the phone number and e-mail on here… e-mail opens up people to spam and the phone number I’d imagine is a personal cell since the office is just setting up. Since they’ve not said “go and post this info everywhere,” I’m more comfortable saying contact me, and I can give you the contact information.

Editor’s note: Sorry, there was a problem with the link above to contact me. It is now fixed.

  1. Does anyone have details?

  2. I’m waiting on details and as soon as I know, I’ll post.

An event for Friday in Portland has been confirmed. Obama will be in Oregon on Friday and leave Saturday. Word is that Salem police have been alerted that Obama will be in town.

  8. The above announcement regarding Barack’s event at MacArthur Court in Eugene has an error. Registration on the web is advisable, but NO tickets are needed. First come, first in. Doors open at 7:00 PM and event starts at 9:00 PM.

  9. The first e-mail announcement we receive did say a ticket was required for all the events. That has since been corrected.

  10. If this event is “sold out,” do you know if it will be televised locally? Or perhaps a teleconference at some other location?

  11. I haven’t heard anything about it being televised or there being a teleconference at another location.

  12. Thank you.

  13. I’m gonna show up super early, I have poor vision hehe. Gonna need a good seat. I can’t wait to hear what he has to say to all us Oregonites.

  14. What are the chances of getting in? I am in PDX… two hours travel time… how early do I need to be there in order to have a realistic chance of getting in? Don’t necessarily want to wait in line all day!

  15. I’m assuming you must mean the Eugene event? I’d get there as early as you can. There were people in line at midnight here in Portland, and tickets were required there. When I arrived just before 5:30 a.m., there were already hundreds of people in line.

  16. First of all the event is free. I am tired of hearing people say they have to find a ticket or buy one off craigslist. DO NOT BUY A TICKET!! Secondly everything is on a first come first sere basis. If you want to get in and get a spot to sit down you have to get there early. When I say early I mean people were lining up in the early morning. Thirdly the event starts at 9 but the doors will be open at 7.

  17. Arriving from Corvallis at 7PM. Think we can get in?

  18. I really want to be there!! what’s happening after Obama tonight? cause I won’t make it there early
