Chelsea Clinton at the DPO Platform Convention

Chelsea ClintonToday, we had the opportunity to hear from Chelsea Clinton speak on behalf of Senator Hillary Clinton's campaign. Even though I am a 100% Senator Barack Obama supporter, I was impressed with Chelsea.

Right at the beginning, Chelsea said that she wasn't someone who was comfortable speaking in public, but that she felt it was important to do because she thoroughly believes her mom is the best candidate for president. So important, in fact, that she has taken a leave of absence from her job in order to speak on college campuses around the country.

However, once she started speaking about Senator Clinton and her policies, you'd have never known that she wasn't comfortable. While she may look a considerable amount like her mom, it is obvious that she picked up her dad's speaking style and the ability to keep her listeners involved.

She spoke very eloquently on topics ranging from health care to the Middle East to public education. She was a fountain of knowledge on what her mother had accomplished throughout her life, her proposals, and how she would fund new services.

Instead of just speaking for the entire time she was there, she did a short intro and then took questions from the floor. Even though I'm certain the questions were very similar to those she has had elsewhere, I was amazed at how well she knew the details of everything, the history of her mother's efforts on a specific issue, etc. Upon being asked a question, she was able to go right into the details - something very impressive for a young woman her age (she's 28 - two years younger than I am).

Having been a reluctant Kerry supporter in 2004, I was really worried about this November. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to put in the whole hearted efforts to volunteer and donate funds to Clinton if she is the nominee after having gone through 2004. But as I told several people today, Chelsea revitalized my commitment to voting and fully supporting Clinton in November - if she's the one on the ballot.

Chelsea was a wonderful and convincing speaker, and I truly hope that she will consider doing the speaking events at college campuses this fall even if her mother isn't the one on the ballot.

I think I've been more impressed with Chelsea the last few weeks than I have with her parents.

Since the clintons are among the few presidential couples to raise such an outstanding young adult, I think they as well as chelsea deserve alot of credit, life in washington is a fishbowl of pirranas and they have all managed to survive and thrive, best wishes to all 3 clintons

Right

Compared to other kids raised in the White House recently, Chelsea has shown herself to be mature, intelligent, and caring. If she chooses to run for election one day, I'm sure she will make one heck of a candidate and elected official. I could also see her doing really well as the head of a large non-profit -- she can really pull you in and make you care.
