Multnomah County Commission candidate: Rob Milesnick

As I've already said, I'm supporting Rob Milesnick for the District 3 seat on the Multnomah County Commission. Of all the candidates, he was the one who understands the strife that has been happening between the County and east county, and he has ideas on how to repair the broken relationship between the County and the cities in east county.

Last month, The Oregonian endorsed my pick of Milesnick for the seat.

From their endorsement:

The toughest choice, by far, faces voters in District 3, covering Southeast Portland, where there are five serious candidates.

...

But the polished Milesnick would bring new energy and a fresh approach. It's telling that he earned endorsements from former county Chair Bev Stein and former Gov. Barbara Roberts.

I think right now, new energy and a fresh approach is exactly what the county commission needs. It is still falling into the same old ruts of how the County has run for some time now. Rather than trying to work together, they try to force decisions on local governments, and then make threats when things don't go their way (the threat of pulling the shared business tax is a long-favored issue).

Rob has a great video up (runs almost 2 minutes) on his stances and how to better the county:

The Portland Mercury endorsed Milesnick as well, saying:

We're endorsing Rob Milesnick because he seems, simply, to want to be a county commissioner so damned much—in our interview, he was the best prepared candidate when it came to Wheeler's public safety initiative and how to get it passed. His healthcare advocacy is a plus, as is his work on corrections oversight—serving on the city's citizens police review committee. He talks smartly about addiction and treatment issues, too.

You can read more about Milesnick and his stance on the issues at www.robforcounty.org.

Disclaimer: I did some work recently to upgrade Milesnick's site to Drupal. However, I speak only for myself and not the campaign. My endorsement of Milesnick came prior to him asking me to upgrade the site.
