A lot of blogs are going on and on about Novick's "attack"mailer on Merkley. Thus far, none of the postings I've seen have given the actual context or even the content of the mailer. Since I received one, I thought I'd share.

Here's the full mailer, with the exception of the area with my name and address (click images for larger version):

Novick mailer Novick mailer

The part that is getting the most attention is the item in the bottom left corner of the back of the mailer that covers health care:

Health Care

You'll notice that the piece that everyone is throwing a fit about refers to two pieces in the Oregonian after the legislature couldn't pass Healthy Kids without sending it to the voters as a constitutional amendment. The items criticized the legislature.

The funny thing is, that back when this was going on, there were plenty of blog posts on the topic, and lots of comments in opposition to what happened, critical of Merkley, etc.

Here are some from Blue Oregon:

The funny thing is that when you read through some of the comments, you'll find people who think it is wrong for Novick to use the above information on his mailer, but were making similar complaints in 2007.

I just figured that if we were going to discuss this flyer, we should have the actual text and images of it in front of us instead of relying on some to frame it for us.
