FOX News showing its true side

Over the past few weeks, FOX News has shown its true side through comments and graphics used on the air. We've all known for some time that they were biased, but lately they've taken that to a new low.

The most recent comments, which are some of the worst thus far, began on May 25 when Fox contributor Liz Trotta joked about U.S. Senator Barack Obama and assassinations.

From the Associated Press:

Trotta's assassination joke came May 25 as she commented about how some considered it distasteful for Clinton to refer to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination when explaining why she was staying in the presidential race.

"Now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama," she said, quickly correcting herself. "Obama. Well, both if we could."

The next day, amid much controversy, she apologized for her comments and hasn't been on the air since.

After Obama's speech upon becoming the nominee, Fox anchor E.D. Hill called the affectionate fist bump between Obama and his wife a "terrorist fist jab." This was said during a teaser for the upcoming segment as well as in the segment itself.

The most recent item:

The graphic "Outraged liberals: Stop picking on Obama's baby mama" was flashed during an interview with conservative columnist Michelle Malkin about whether Barack Obama's wife has been the target of unfair criticism.

The ironic thing is that this graphic was shown during an interview in which Malkin said "she had seen no gratuitous or cheap shots taken against Michelle Obama by Republican or conservative critics."

Maybe she should have looked at the screen?

From the AP article:

Joan Walsh, a columnist from Salon.com, criticized the graphic on Thursday as a slur.
"Do you try to explain that `baby mama' is slang for the unmarried mother of a man's child, and not his wife, or even a girlfriend?" Walsh wrote. "Are they racist, or just clueless? Isn't there racism even in their cluelessness, if somebody didn't know what `baby mama' means, but used it anyway? Even at Fox, won't somebody have to apologize?"
In this case, no one has apologized and no one has been disciplined. Bill Shine, senior vice president of programming at Fox, said in a statement that a producer "exercised poor judgment" during the segment.

Disappointing

It's tough to see such bias in the news. However, it is important to know that it goes both ways and to not look at it just from one side. The new should be entirely unbiased and it is frustrating to see that it often times is not, on both ends.
