Moses Ross elected National DNC Delegate from OR 1st CD
Submitted by Moses Ross on June 11, 2008 - 10:53pm
Portland, OR - Moses Ross has been elected to represent the First Congressional District of Oregon as a national delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Mr. Ross, a Portland businessman and Democratic Party activist, is the sole male delegate pledged for Hillary Clinton from the district. He will be joined by two elected female delegates, Sue Castner and Hallie Travis. The three will represent Senator Hillary Clinton as national delegates for Oregon at the 2008 National Convention in Denver from August 25-29. "We represent tens of thousands of Senator Clinton's supporters throughout our district" , said Ross. "We are proud to advocate her platform which shares our common values of economic and social fairness. According to organizers, the June 7th event at Aloha High School was the largest Democratic Party delegate convention ever held in Oregon. Two male, two female and one alternate position were also elected for Senator Barack Obama at the event. According to Mr. Ross, over 15% of the 1st CD population is of Hispanic/Latino decent. He states, "As a man of Hispanic decent, I am acutely aware of the political under-representation of our community and the potential for disenfranchisement. This motivates me to best represent my community working to advance Senator Clinton's platform." Mr. Ross has an extensive background of work within the political community. He is a past officer of the Multnomah County Democratic Party and is a member of the Democratic Party of Oregon's President's Council. He recently re-established the Hispanic/Latino Caucus within the state party. He is also the owner of PoliticalRobocalls.com, a Portland-based call center for nationwide Democratic candidates and causes. He lives in the Capitol Hill area of Southwest Portland. "I'm excited to be going to Denver. This has been a historic Presidential campaign," states Ross. "The voices of millions of Hillary's supporters have been heard. We will unite around our party's nominee and fully support them in the general election." *** For background information, please follow this link: http://restricted.dpo.org/delegates/ For photos, please follow this link: http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/nn232/mosesross/?action=view¤t=...
