  • Event Announcements

Dear Oregon Democrats,

As you may have heard, Elizabeth Edwards is going to be in Portland on Tuesday, June 26. She'll be here to build support for John's campaign for President.

The campaign has organized a low-dollar fundraiser - and I hope you'll join us. The event takes places at 5:30 PM at the Benson Hotel, 309 SW Broadway, Portland. The ticket price is $75, with a $35 discount ticket for union members, a college-student discount ticket at $25 -- and young people under age 18 are free.

Space is limited and tickets are starting to move fast, so I encourage you to get your ticket now and make sure you get in.

June 2 Religious Outreach Workshop at Democratic State Convention

Submitted by Mac Prichard on May 11, 2006 - 6:10am.
  • Event Announcements

Dear Oregon Democrats,

The Republicans have spent decades cultivating relationships with religious leaders and communities and Democratic candidates and our state’s party must do the same. To help accomplish this, the Democratic Party of Oregon is offering a workshop on religious outreach from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, June 2, at the state convention in Eugene.

The workshop’s instructors, Mara Vanderslice and Eric Sapp, have pioneered successful religious outreach strategies across the country. Mara served as national director of religious outreach in the Kerry-Edwards campaign. Eric is a candidate for ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA), handled faith and politics issues for Rep. David Price (NC), and helped staff the House Democratic Faith Working Group.

Peter and Matthew Slutsky, the hosts of DoubleSpeak, have posted two new episodes of their online radio show, now ranked as among the top 30 political podcasts on iTunes.

Episode 3 features Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and John Aravosis of the mega-blog AmericaBlog.

Episode 4 features Jennifer Brunner, the Democratic nominee for Secretary of State in Ohio as well as our exclusive interview with Harry Taylor, the North Carolina man who recently stood-up and asked George W. Bush some tough questions at a town hall forum.

Go to www.doublespeakshow.com to hear both segments.

Peter, as many Oregonians will remember, was John Kerry's field director for Multnomah County during the 2004 presidential campaign.

DoubleSpeak With Matthew and Peter Slutsky: www.DoubleSpeakshow.com

Submitted by Mac Prichard on February 24, 2006 - 4:55pm.
  • Political News & Commentary

(Peter Slutsky, who worked here in Oregon for John Kerry's campaign in 2004, has launched "Double Speak," a web-based radio show on grass roots politics. See Peter's message below for details and go to www.doublespeak.com. ~Mac Prichard, Portland, Oregon, February 20, 2004)

Friends,

Today we are proud to announce the launch of the much anticipated DoubleSpeak with Matthew and Peter Slutsky http://www.doublespeakshow.com.

For the past year we have, along with very dedicated co-visionaries, been working to develop, produce and launch DoubleSpeak- an entertaining online radio show that aims to penetrate the Republican noise machine and give the Democrats a forum that will resonate with the American people.

We promise to bring you national, state, and yes, even local, Democratic leaders - those on the ground helping to shape the outcome in 2006. And we promise to poke, prod, and probe to ask the questions and get the answers. We will work tirelessly, along with our listeners, to fuel a historic Democratic victory in 2006 and for the 21st century.

At the intersection of radio, blogs, and grassroots politics, you'll find DoubleSpeak. Click here to check it out: www.doublespeakshow.com.
