Media Watch"To Tell The Truth": Steve Novick's funny new TV adSubmitted by novick4senate on January 14, 2008 - 5:41pm.Standing 4'9" tall with a stainless steel hook for a hand, Steve Novick doesn't belong to the batch of suave, cookie-cutter politicians we get to choose from these days. Yet wherever he goes, he wins supporters. They call him "savagely smart" (Oregonian), "charisma personified" (Good Magazine) and "the kind of guy who follows his convictions, damn the consequences" (Willamette Week).
This new TV ad, produced by Eichenbaum & Associates (the people who work on Russ Feingold's ads), serves to introduce Steve and his Senate bid to the public.

A teachable moment in Portland: Cesar Chavez, Chicanos, Latinos and "the Community."Submitted by seancruz on November 17, 2007 - 11:57am.I am going to try to seize a teachable moment amid this mind-numbing conversation that used to be about Cesar Chavez…. Much of the confusion stems from the lack of clarity regarding who is speaking and on whose behalf they claim to be speaking. Virtually all of the public discussion centers on “Latinos” and the “Latino community”, or “the Community,” and on what “they” (“Latino ‘leaders’”) say “they” ("the Community") wants. Here’s what you need to know: 1. The terms "Latino" and "Hispanic" do not necessarily describe the same people. 2. There is no single Latino "community." There is no formal Latino “leader.” continue reading this blog posting » » CHILD ABUSE AND DISCRIMINATION AT PROVIDENCE ST. Yesterday, I was catching up on the news that I hadn't been able to read for a few days, and I came across this article and I thought, "Why do we not know about this?" and "Well, WHY do we not KNOW about this?!"
