STRIP TELECOM IMMUNITY for actions taken before 9/11/01 in the Senate version of the FISA bill

Submitted by ProgTodd on June 29, 2008 - 11:30am.

We need to contact every Democratic Senator to get them to STRIP TELECOM IMMUNITY for actions taken before 9/11/01 in the Senate version of the FISA bill. And if that move is to be taken, having Barack Obama introduce it would immediately bring the unity the party desires.

THIS ACTION REPRESENTS OUR ONLY HOPE AS A NATION to retain the rule of law and our Constitutional rights. My hope is that when Democrats do this, some or all of the pending lawsuits against the telecoms can retain their standing. This would allow the discovery portion of these lawsuits to provide the testimony to unearth President Bush’s willing violations of the Constitution prior to his presumed powers in the aftermath of 9/11.

What we can do re: Impeachment

Submitted by Moses Ross on June 13, 2008 - 12:02pm.

  • Oregon

On Monday, June 9th, 2008, Congressman Dennis Kucinich presented 35 Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush in the United States House of Representatives. Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida, a member of the House Judiciary committee, has enthusiastically co-sponsored this vitally important bill.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2008, the House voted to refer the resolution to the House Judiciary Committee. Contrary to what some news outlets are reporting, this does not kill the resolution to impeach. The Judiciary Committee can start hearings on the articles of impeachment any time they vote to do so. However, unless we, the American public, make our voices heard the Committee may avoid taking action.

Things we can do:

* Read the Articles of Impeachment by clicking on this link:

An Impeachment Ad Congress Will Read!

We want to run this Impeachment ad on Tuesday, April 29 in Roll Call, the Capitol Hill paper ALL members of Congress and their staffs read avidly.

The ad answers House Speaker Pelosi's argument-echoed by many House members (perhaps your Representative)-that President Bush and Vice President Cheney will be out of office by January 30 "so why bother with impeachment?"

Completely absent amid all of the overheated rhetoric in the present “discussion” about renaming Interstate or Fourth Avenue or whatever to “honor” Cesar Chavez is any trace of understanding of either who the man was or what the man accomplished.

If I hear one more summation of the man and his achievements that is built around the word "grapes", I may lose my patience, get upset, start....
